Have you ever looked at someone you admire, someone who is living an inspiring life and making things happen? If you have, then you’ve probably wondered how they do it and how they make it look so easy. You’ve probably wondered how you could do it too.
You may sit around just trying to figure out what can you do to make a difference in the world. Can you really make an impact?
Yes. You can — and I’m a HUGE believer that we can all do something. Even if we just help one person, it makes a difference in their world. But we tend to get stuck in a rut and lose our motivation and inspiration for living a better life.
It’s not hard to get that inspiration back. Start small; don’t overthink it. Have faith. Trust that when you take the leap, your net will appear. Take the first step, whether it’s by taking a new class or displaying a random act of kindness. You’ll never change the world if you don’t try.
So, what can you do to start living an inspired life? Here are a few ideas to get you started:
1.It’s about your attitude, not your circumstances. Let’s say your dream is to start a business. And you think “If only I had a location and an investor, I would wake up every day and build my business.” With that attitude, the business will never become a reality. It doesn’t matter if you have a location and an investor yet, do it anyway. Wake up every day and start creating your plan. Everything else will start to fall into place. You’ve got to believe, even if your circumstances don’t give you reason to (yet).
2.Set goals and go after them. Part of the reason we don’t feel inspired is because we’re not driven to go after our goals. We feel they are too far out of reach. But it’s not as hard as you may think to get that passion back. Take the example of the business again, you may not feel inspired because you haven’t started and it seems like such a big project. But if you break the project down and tell yourself “I only need to come up with a business name this week”, then it’s manageable. And once you get started you’ll find yourself feeling more inspired to keep going.
3.Do what is right, not what is popular. At the end of the day, you need to be able to look yourself in the mirror and know that you tried your best; you gave it your all and you feel good about who you are. Follow your heart and be true to your beliefs.
4.Be kind. Kindness is the greatest gift you can give yourself and others. And, like love, the more you give away the more you have to give. Being kind to someone will not only make you feel good about yourself, it will inspire others to be kind as well.
5.Be mindful. Live in the moment. Be present in each day with your family, friends and those around you. Take a moment to slow down, notice your breath and just “be” in the present moment. You’ll notice that worry, fear and stress start to melt away.
6.Embrace a higher power. Regardless of your religious beliefs or spiritual calling, you are one with the Universe. There are things you may never understand, but the world around you is unfolding just as it should. Have faith and trust the process.
7.Smile. Your attitude is your compass for your perception for the world. You can’t have a bad day or a bad attitude if you’re smiling. And best of all, it’s free and it’s contagious. Share your beautiful smile with the world.
Become an inspiration to others. Do just one thing every day to inspire someone else to make a positive change in their life too.
